Many of the effects of extended, continuous forced removal are obvious, glaring, stark and well-defined. Others are far more nuanced, but no-less relevant or significant. And in the end, out of the ashes many tribal communities have found – or are finding – their footing and emerging as political, cultural and economic forces, staking their claim in the world today. Where do the American Indians with ties to Ohio live today? What challenges do they still face? And, how are they responding as they look to the future?
